Naomi Sato, Japanese Shô and Saxophone

Naomi and Francisco have continuously worked together since they met each other in Amsterdam in 2006. Their collaboration resulted in Horizon Plus for Shô and Electronics and in several ensemble pieces that include the Shô (such as Prisma and Solar)

Atlas Ensemble

Francisco has worked in numerous occasions with this fantastic intercultural ensemble based in Amsterdam. This collaboration resulted in several acclaimed works. His work Prisma for Solo Oboe, 6 East Asian Instruments, and Strings written for Ernest Rombout and the Atlas Ensemble was nominated for the Gaudeamus Music Prize and his work Mestizo for Soprano and Intercultural  Ensemble received an honorable mention in the Morton Gould Young Composer Awards.

Spektral Quartet


Francisco was commissioned by the Spektral Quartet to compose a piece for their 2012-13 season. After a couple collaborative meetings the resulting work was Tlal for String Quartet and Electronics.

A/B Duo

Francisco is currently working on a commission by A/B Duo for their 2013-14 season. This new music duo has two of the most talented performers you will find around: flutist Meerenai Shim and percussionist Christopher Jones.

Shanna Gutierrez, Flute

Shanna and Francisco collaborated on the creation of Sur les debris for Bass Flute and Electronics which Shanna premiered during the 2012-13 Ensemble Dal Niente season in Chicago.

Josiah Zayner, Biochemist

In 2012, Josiah, then a Ph.D student in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Chicago, and Francisco received a grant from the University of Chicago Arts|Science Initiative to develop an instrument that interpreted the chemical reaction of a nano-sized light-responsive protein found in Oat plants and turned it into sound. The Chromochord was developed. Francisco and Josiah have been working on Bioelectronic instruments and music since then.

Delfos Danza Contemporanea

Francisco is currently working on a videodance with Delfos Danza Contemporanea and their choreographer, Claudia Lavista. The project was born during Delfos' residency at the Logan Center for the Arts.

Dalia Chin, Flute

Dalia is the flutist in the up-and-coming Chicago-based ensemble Fonema Consort. Francisco and Dalia spent many hours working on Desde un sueño espeso... for flute and electronics which Dalia premiered in 2011 in Chicago.

Jennifer Humphreys, Cello

Jennifer is a member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra since 2011. Francisco and Jen collaborated several times during their time at Rice University. The collaboration resulted in several pieces including Solsticio for Cello and Piano, and Oda for Cello and Electronics. 

Kathryn Christensen, Piano

Kathryn is a stunning solo and chamber pianist. Francisco and Kathryn collaborated through their time at Rice University where they were both undergraduates. Kathryn premiered Tres Nocturnas for Piano and Solsticio for Violoncello and Piano.
